If you are among the people who do not consume dal every day, Dal Dhli is the recipe that gives the monotonous Arhar dal an outbreak of flavors. The traditional recipe of Gujarati Dal Dhlo is easy to create and offers a lot of protein and minerals. The spicy and sweet combination of wheat flour in combination with DAL serves as a complete meal in a single bowl.

We recently came across the recipe while we visited one of the Gujarati friends. The Gujarati gourmet served us with the exotic Dal Dhlo, who was another dish that tickled my taste buds. What is a traditional DAL DHOKLI recipe?

Previously, people prepared the Dal -Dobokli recipe by using some remaining dal and adding some wheat dough pieces. However, you can prepare the recipe from scratch and enjoy carefully with your loved ones. The Gujarati and the Rajasthani method to prepare Dal Dhli are almost the same. It is only the difference in the diversity of the DAL use. Rajasthanis prepares Dal Dhli in particular by matching some Moong Dal in the wheat flour. On the other hand, the Gujarati people Udad Dal prefer to do the necessary. Make sure that your DAL -DHOCKLOKLI recipe is slightly watery because the dough absorbs a lot of water.

Let’s learn step by step dal dhli recipe –

  • Step 1 – Wash Arhar dal and pressure cooker by adding red chilipules, turmeric, tomatoes, water and salt.
  • Step 2 – Add lemon juice and two cups of water after the DAL has been prepared in the pressure cooker. Mix everything very well and follow the next step.
  • Step 3 – To prepare the dough for Dal DHOCLI, you have to add some Ajwain, turmeric powder, vegetable oil, gram flour and salt. Knead well.
  • Step 4 – Use a roller pen with a raw chapati out of the dough and cut it into small square pieces.
  • Step 5 – Add the prepared small pieces of dough into the DAL and cook in medium heat for about 12 minutes.
  • Step 6 – Finally, take a pan with a little ghee, cumin and mustard grains. Let them burst for a few seconds and carefully mix it in the DAL DHOCLE recipe.

The recipe is always tasty and delicious. It doesn’t have many spices, but it still consists of a subtle taste to absolutely extinguish your palette. You can experiment with different flavors from DAL every day with the same recipe. All ingredients used to prepare the recipe are conveniently available at home. If you do not find a specific ingredient, just skip it if you do not find a specific ingredient. The basic ingredients such as flour, dial, salt, turmeric, oil, ghee, besan and cumin are most important.
