How to prepare dal at home
Red lens or as we call them Masoor/Malika in Hindi have a really exotic taste and a simple cooking technique. Especially the best winter meal, you can prepare the Mallika -Dal recipe at home by using small ingredients that give the recipe for lenses a wonderful taste. Instead of cooking simple dal, add a finely chopped vegetables, like finished and cauliflower, to make it impressive and better in taste.
Forget to prepare something for weekends and decide to cook the recipe for red lentils at home, which is flooded aromatic and with healthy nutrients.
Ingredients required to prepare Mallika Dal recipe
- oil
- Lentils that are soaked overnight 1 cup
- A tablespoon of cumin
- Half of the tablespoon of red chilipules
- A pinch of asafoetida
- Half meat turmeric powder
- Salt
- (Fine chopped vegetables of your choice)
Wash the red lens and hold it under running water. Soak them overnight and keep them in the fridge.
Step-by-step instructions for creating red lens recipe
- Step 1 – Add a tablespoon of oil into the cooking pan and cook the lentils to soften them.
- Step 2 – With 1 tablespoon of ghee in another pan.
- Step 3 – Add mustard seeds, spices and vegetables
- Step 4 – Cook everything very well in a low flame.
- Step 5 – Add to the mixture and add water if necessary.

In general, you have to take 5 times more water than the amount of Dal during the cooking. If you want to prepare only one person, you can take half a bowl of Dal and soak for some time. You can increase the ratio according to the number of people present in the family.
If you do not have ghee available, you can also prepare DAL with mustard oil. The taste of the DAL feels better in ghee. This gives the recipe a nutty taste and also provides more nutrition.
