Springe to the recipe
Try something different with your next grill and make this delicious, marinated Grilled tofu!
Grilled tofu is to prepare a light dish. Most of the time the tofu is spent to remove excess moisture. Then only 15 minutes of marinating time gives the tofu with an incredible taste. Of course, you can marinate it overnight, but you can’t go for more than 24 hours because it falls apart. I think 30 to 90 minutes are ideal, but that’s just my personal opinion.
Tofu offers a beautiful meaty texture that every marinade absorbs. The grilling gives incredible taste, a crispy appearance and a damp, delicate interior. Try your favorite sandwich bun with the same coverings you would attract on a burger. Or combine it with a vegetable, curry or a salad. There are no limits for the many options that you can use.
Simply make sure that you use an extra foot tofu instead of silk tofu, because Seidentofu is too watery and soft to work in this recipe.
Is grilled tofu healthy?
Grilled tofu is a plant -based protein that is low in calories, fat and carbohydrates. There is also no cholesterol level that benefits people who want to reduce their food cholesterol intake. This naturally vegan and milk -free dish can be made gluten -free with gluten -free soy sauce, Tamari or coconutaminos. Serving the tofu over a hearty salad offers a delicious, nutritious meal.
What is tofu and what are the different types?
Tofu consists of ripe white soybeans, not the Greens that you may eat in restaurants. The beans are soaked to soften them, grind into a slurry or paste, heat and tense (separate the milk from the pulp). Then the tense milk is added to a coagulant such as magnesium chloride or calcium sulfate in order to roll them into solids. The curds are then pressed into a shape to remove excess moisture and create a solid block.
The soft tofu is the least undergoing and thanks to its creamy texture, is ideal for use in desserts. It can also be consumed raw or pureed. The texture of Medium-Firm Tofu is rougher, but can easily crack. So go around it carefully. The best uses are baking, gentle pan roasts, sluts and fried roast or ferry. The company and Extra-Firm Tofu are the most pressed and drained tofu species and are extremely versatile. They are using pan roasts, sluts and frying, baking, cooking and roasting.
Seidentofu skipped the curd process, so that it has a silky texture that is excellent in smoothies, sauces and dressings. This type of tofu is also equipped in soft, fixed and extra firm forms, but should not be replaced if a recipe provides for block tofu because it does not hold its shape right away.
FAQs & tips
Let the tofu come to room temperature after the grill before you are cooled in an airtight container for up to 4 days. You can also freeze grilled tofu after cooling it. Put it in a freezer or container for up to 3 months and then thaw it in the fridge overnight. Freezing changes the texture. So expect it to be “meaty” after thawing.
The oiling of the grill grille prevents gluing. I recommend using a good grill brush like a silicone to distribute an oil layer on the grids. Make sure your grill is hot before adding the tofu. Let the tofu cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side to develop grill tracks. If you turn it too quickly, it is more tight.
Although the simplest way with a Tofu press is, there is no reason to spend additional money for another kitchen appliances. Wrapping your tofu in a clean towel or layers of paper towels and pressing under a heavy pan (e.g. a cast iron pan) is sufficient.
